A lot of strategies around ADHD tend to be from a neurotypical perspective. They’ll use methods that work with Neurotypical people and try to say people with ADHD can do the same methods, just need to stay motivated and focused.
While there are people with ADHD who can benefit from these methods, here’s some ways to approach working with an ADHD client and a different perspective to consider!
Understanding Setbacks
From what we’ve learned about ADHD so far, some key symptoms to note are struggle to focus, impulse, loss of motivation, and their hyperactivity. While other symptoms should be taken note of to how they contribute to a person’s individual struggle – these four symptoms tend to generally make it harder for someone with ADHD to be productive and stay on task.

An important thing to take note of is a person’s life outside of tasks – we still have to live with ourselves, and being stuck in a mind of boredom until the next task isn’t ideal!
Finding ways to make life more engaging and stimulating, can help someone with ADHD feel more content with their life overall.
